We're just getting started on the airstrip, but when it's finished, you won't find a backcountry strip and approach as amazing as this anywhere else in the Sierra Nevada mountains, guaranteed. At 3200' long and 60' wide, the airstrip is long enough and safe enough for even turboprops like small King Airs, Kodiaks, Caravans, or Pilatus's. But the approach over the mighty Kern River with granite peaks all around you, into the Peppermint Creek valley, finishing with a gentle touchdown area and rolling out next to the 150 foot high Peppermint waterfall and creek will leave even the most seasoned fixed-wing pilot breathless and in awe. ...you're gonna love landing here.
Traffic pattern altitude: 5500'
With its over-sized landing area, large 3-bay hangar, and flag-pole windsock, our helipad can handle multiple members' helicopters at one time. Perfectly positioned on a small hill near the mouth of the Peppermint Valley, the helipad and hangar are central to the airstrip, the large main cabin, camping, and adjacent to the Peppermint Creek. Built to handle turboprop helicopters, the large hangar includes weather-proof roll-up doors and can be structurally modified for our owners' four-bladed birds as well. With our fuel trailer and bay adjacent to the hangar, we have everything you need to keep your chopper safe and sound while you're here.
Land here, hike down to the mighty Kern River, and you and your buddies will be fishing on one of the most pristine spots on the river for that beautiful rainbow trout in no time!
